:? There’s something horribly smug and judgemental about it which I suppose reflects the era and the way women were regarded at the time perhaps but the tune is dull and repetitive and goes on and on and on like a shit Leonard Cohen.

It’s a no from me
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

Finally we agree on something and it's only taken 17 years.

Even describing this as a "guilty pleasure" is unforgivable. Calling it a classic is wronger than rustling a bag of sweets outside a primary school.

Not much middle ground on this one by the looks of it!

Me? I don’t mind it but not something I’d choose to listen to. A bit of a classic - instantly recognisable sound that was all of its own.

‘The single worst ever record made’ - really?

I can think of many, many, more that are far worse than this. Personally, I am completely ambivalent about it but ‘the single worst ever record made’?

"Rock Me Amadeus" by Falco is the worst. Followed by "Cotton-Eyed Joe" by Rednex.

But what is third worst? "The Final Countdown"? "Macarena"? "My Heart Will Go On"?

Where do you go to is absolutely a classic. I love its comedy elements, and that accordion solo!!

It’s fantastic of course and reeks of the sixties in a great way, much like Lee Hazelwood.
But it’s not as great as this

I was waiting for the usual suspects to appear when worst reord ever was mentioned.

Cotton Eyed Joe.

Not sure why everyone hates this so much, I suspect most are unaware that the song itself is a country standard with a million and one versions out there.

Rednex may be bastadized and the weakest version but I cannot summon any particuar hatred for it.

We Built This City on the other hand is great and you are all mad.

Where Do You Go To is worse, much worse than either.

Damn it's good to see someone shares my rage when this stinking pile of shit is mentioned.
It was a running joke at work when this came on the radio. They used to turn it up so I could hear it better and then watch my meltdown.

The safety song is it? We can dance is the refrain, is another that winds me up,and that we close our eyes thing by some eighties band is another.
Oh and any Brian May solo.

It is a phenomenal song.
Possibly his best.

I think if you look at WDYGTML as being from the point of view of a bitter, twisted misanthrope staring bug-eyed at the ceiling every night, it’s a gtreT song. It’s not about where she goes when she's alone in her bed, it’s all about where he goes.
