It's 50 years since the release of the band's eponymous, debut album.

It got even better (and weirder) later on, but their debut was amazing!

Interesting video. The narrator says the '70s spawned a lot of classic prog bands, and then precedes to name a bunch who were spawned in the '60s. Anyway, GG were one of the most consistent progressive rock bands ever. All their LPs from 1970 to the live album in '77 were great. The last three studio records were less so, but only one of them (Giant for a Day) could be called sub par. They may not have a Close to the Edge or Selling England by the Pound in their catalog, but you can pick any of their first eight albums randomly and know you're in for a treat. Not too many bands had that kind of quality control for so long.
