James Last overdresses Eleanor Rigby

... and almost gets away with it. I actually have a lot of respect for James Last; he can turn most any song into his own with clever arrangements that almost always feel just right. "Eleanor Rigby", though, it was always meant to be sparse, but here he throws in everything and the kitchen sink - to a disco beat! I take perverse delight in this piece, knowing very well it is indefensible. It's actually a whole CD's worth of Beatles covers, in the inimitable style of "Hansi". Oh, here come the piccolo trumpets in "Penny Lane". Some things you just don't mess with.
