Came out this past weekend, I believe.

I loved Willner, and Bolan too, but I'm giving this one a hard pass.

They were were both absolutely dreadful

Tribute albums usually are dreadful, it's true.

But the first Willner tribute album I heard was a Thelonious Monk one in the mid-'80s, which I (mostly) very much enjoyed and played a lot, and his Disney and Mingus tributes certainly had their moments. And I liked other things he did, particularly his uncanny setting of Allen Ginsberg's Wichita Vortex Sutra. I'm ordinarily open to hearing anything with his name on it.

But this just seems like a bad idea from the git-go. I'm not sure I could explain why.

I hear you. Wilners style always seemed very precious and finely crafted. It doesn't really gel with 70's glam. Maybe the 60's output of Bolan?

I'd like to hear it for that reason, it's kind of off kilter

If it was Hal Wilners tribute to Lou Reed I'd be a hard pass
