Steve would - at great length- disagree.

Knew AP had "artistic differences" with TR when recording Skylarking,
but was unaware SH had had problems with him.

Care to elaborate?

I don’t know the specifics but a guy I know did some work for Hillage. He mentioned that he loved L. Apparently, Hillage went on for hours about it.

Also Psychedelic Furs Forever Now.

... not to mention Badfinger's Straight Up and the New York Dolls' first album. Both bands were unhappy with Todd and with the records at the time, but the surviving members seem to have changed their minds over time (and rightly so!). The Dolls even got Todd to produce their second post-reunion album Cause I Sez So in 2009.

Massive Todd fan from Runt onwards and in addition to the solo Something, Todd and Wizard
I had the group albums Ra, Ooops Wrong Planet and Another Live. Went off him a bit after
Back to the Bars and Hermit (a terrific record). Still have em all on vinyl but they've been around
the world twice and are not in great shape

Saw Todd and U a couple of times around then, too. Once at Knebworth (it was the day Lynrrd
Skynrrd did that version of Freebird that famously took up half of one episode to OGWT. 10CC had
the impossible act of following them. Earlier on the day was Hot Tuna and some boogie band whose
name I've long since forgotten

Famously, Keith R apparently ODed that afternoon resulting in epic delays to the day's scheduled

Got the Todd one. Iirc it was a double CD and there was a second collection of his best work as a producer

I heard a Rundgren story that cracked me up - backstage at a show at which he was one of the many performers, a friend's niece was hanging out backstage trying to meet Beck. She came upon Rundgren, and asked him who he was: "are you famous? What song of yours would I know?"

Rundgren drawled back (referring to BtD's ubiquity), "ever been to a sporting event?"

I am also reasonably decent friends with the Nazz's drummer (though I haven't seen him in years). Apparently they are not on the best of terms, though they've made occasional overtures of at least cordiality to one another.

It's always bothered me - even before I knew Thom - that he's pretty much ignored the importance of the band in his history. He kind of treats it like it was him with a backing band that he used until he found better musicians. When in actuality, I think they kept him grounded, in addition to being great musicians in their own right - Thom is a fantastic drummer, even now.

Thom is a great drummer, but my understanding is that he and Todd didn't get along even then.

Probably so - he likes the other guys, though. He and Stewkey just re-united for a partial Nazz show - two other friends of mine were involved in that, including the one who filled the Todd-for-hire role - and apparently they sat up all night talking old times and got along famously.
