Proclamation

Postby C » 15 Jul 2020, 20:06

Sadly, Pugwash not behind his tubs but present.

He wasn't well last time I saw Three Friends I sat chatting to Malcolm Mortimore's parents next to me and Pugwash was two rows directly in front of me.

Anyway, released today, great stuff and progtastic to see all the fans and band having fun.

It brought tear to my eye.

Enjoy

The amount of rehearsals and time it would take them to get back the the standard they were plus they are settled in the lives and careers they have now.

It's a shame really but I understand that

I have owned Octopus, Freehand, Playing the Fool, The Missing Piece and Giant for A Day. But my mate had all the others when we were growing up.

I admire them more than I like them. If that makes sense. However every time I hear them I always like them a bit more. I will jump in sometime in the future. Promise.

Good lad - that's the spirit

The Missing Piece and in particular Giant for a Day!) [don't forget the exclamation mark/point] are far from their finest work...!

Been listening to Freehand and Octopus the last few nights. musically its great but i'm not overly fond of the main vocals when the harmonies are all going on like in On Reflection its brilliant but DS on his is own is just ok.

This has always been my primary stumbling block with GG. Much as I love the contrapuntalistics of "On Reflection" and "Knots", I think I'd rather they had been an instrumental band then have Derek as a lead singer.

I was listening to Steven Wilson's 5.1 mixes of Gentle Giant and The Power and the Glory recently, and he includes instrumental versions of those albums on the blu rays. I'm not crazy about Derek's voice either sometimes but the music is always interesting.
