Motown the complete No 1's

Postby Walk In My Shadow » 08 Jul 2020, 21:24

Amazon UK has it for £ 47 pounds at the moment.

11 discs all niceley packed in a replica of the Motown house.

comes to £ 4 a disc, all winners. Great deal, huh?

But I already have all songs on seperate albums (well, certainly up to cd 10).

AmI going to spend money on this? Don't think so.

I'd rather get the Sutherland Brothers & Quiver set. 8 albums for £ 27.

You?

I opted for The Complete Motown Singles in Mono instead.

Bought it years ago - the whole set is delightful, box included. Won't be buying Sutherland Brothers & Quiver.

There's a 5-CD box set called 101 Motown Anthems for about a fiver elsewhere on the same page.

Jesus, who would have guessed the SB&Q lasted long enough to make so many albums

Online store Hip O Select used to have Motown CD box sets for every year from 1959 - 1972. All 45s, A & B sides in their original mixes. Even better than the Stax-Volt 45 boxes since those didn't have B-sides.

It’s a Spectrum release, for whatever that’s worth.

A reviewer on the U.S Amazon page complains that many of the earlier recordings are the mono versions. The fool!

Have the full Hip O Select box sets, but still shamefully eyeing that up purely because of the packaging....
