Re: Prog Synch Listen: Yes, Tuesday 19th May @ 9pm [UK]
I think the fans of Jon and Rick didn’t approve of them having been replaced by The Buggles and decided to shout their disapproval.
They should have been there when Neil Young did Greendale.

That's a very fair point extremely well made Mike.
I felt the same
"Video Killed the Radio Star" - what nonsense was that for a serious prog fan like yours truly.
I succumbed though
Eventually.....

First two songs are excellent - make that first three.
Much more of harder edged than I associate with Yes in general. Squire and Howe a bit more prominent than they had become I think.

Mike, I remember at the time you being apoplectic - can you remind me what was so bad my memory is not what it was Bill...

They should have been there when Neil Young did Greendale.
Or when Dylan went electric.
Moldy figs.

Trying to recall when I’ve seen Yes
Drama tour
ABWH
Union
Magnification
None of the great tours then.

The whole album is upbeat and rocks
None of the introverted Anderson nonsense
This is Yes for real men (and women)

Later recorded by Buggles - it was their tune (a version on Spotify). On the Buggles later album Adventures In Modern Recording (NOT on Spotify)

Tour wasn’t advertised as Greendale. It was £50. He insisted the bars were closed. He played the tedious Neil by numbers Greendale for hours plus 4 “hits”. Dismal.

Bass is brilliant.
Drums have a lot of force.
Guitar sounds gnarly. (is that how you cats express it? )
The stabs of the keys are great too.

Many fans, meself included, would have killed to see the Union show live.
Just the once, me - Hammersmith Odeon 2003 - Anderson, Wakeman, Howe, Squire, White. Pure magic.
