Betty Wright RIP

Postby 50 Shades Of Blue » 10 May 2020, 21:25

The "Clean Up" lady died today aged aged 66.
I don't know the cause.

A nice Soul Train clip of Betty performing at the end of this link

Will play my Betty Wright compilation tonight.
Has a nice version of Allen Toussaint's Shoorah! Shoorah! on it.

Was still doing my Kraftwerk and Little Richard thing!
This is another shitty week.
Some mother's talking 'bout Guns' n 'Roses

Younger than I would have guessed. That means she was only 17 when she recorded "Clean Up Woman"!

I remember when she had her big "comeback" in '87. Clarence Carter was experiencing one around the same time. I felt happy for them.

R.I.P.

In the clip from Soul Train on my OP she is interviewed between songs and they ask her why an 18 year old is singing such songs as "Clean Up Woman" and "Baby Sitter"

Surprised there is little love or interest for Betty Wright on this site.
Saying that there are only 15 replies on the Little Richard thread.
LR was the guy that caught the lightning of rock and roll in a bottle FFS.
This place is struggling.
