2019 Top Tunes No. 6: The Comet is Coming

Postby Rorschach » 05 Feb 2020, 13:20

Surely even the prog goons like this one!

This may be my favourite track from last year though I'm not so keen on the album. A bit much honking and squeaking for my taste.

However, this is sublime.

I'll just leave it at that.

Bugger off.

No-one has anything to say about this? Really? Not even the drumming?

Great song with a good driving beat. I hadn't heard this one before. The synths at the end (if it are synths) could have been left out.

Have you heard anything else by them? This was the first thing I heard and thought I'd discovered my new favourite band. But I found the album it came from, Trust in the Lifeforce, less exciting. Not bad, but not as coherent and exciting as this track.

I'm going to have to listen again when I get a minute because I'm not sure what you mean about the synthesisers. I always concentrate my attention on the drumming at the end.

I like the sparsity of the drums and the sax but ( not only at the end of the song) they fill it up by synths. It works but I just thought those pushed the song more into the mundane.

It's a nice set of moods but not much else to hang my hat on. The drumming is what keeps it alive and the sax doesn't get into real irritating mode.

I enjoyed it

Interesting tubs as Maarts said.

I liked the honking - Soft Machine on speed!

I've heard a few things on Spotify. I saw part of their set at Glastonbury on the telly, not bad. Keep meaning to listen further
