Hitsville: The Making of Motown

Postby GoogaMooga » 04 Jan 2020, 03:59

NOW STREAMING: Swedish TV is showing the new 60th anniversary documentary on Motown, and it is really, really impressive. Expertly compiled and edited, with generous chunks of often rare live performances from the golden era, this is the high watermark of music documentaries and should be the standard for all music documentaries to come. Enough key players are alive and well to tell the whole amazing story that is also a precious document of 1960s America: Berry Gordy himself, Holland-Dozier-Holland, Smokey Robinson, and more. One to get on Blu and watch again and again. Made with Gordy's participation, this doc has had unprecedented access to Motown's vaults and has unearthed historic material that is pure gold.
