Why not? What have we ever done to you?

I tried hard with Led Zeppelin, but I've long since given up.

Diamond Dog once kindly sent me a CD of live stuff and I found myself laughing out loud at it. Something about squeezing a lemon and it dribbling down his leg.
It's always struck me as perfect incel music: bombastic, emotionally stunted and hilariously lacking in self-awareness.

I appreciate that people who know about and love music far more than I do find something to enjoy but I can't fathom what it is.

I don't think I've ever got past half-way through an album but I do quite like that daft viking song. At least it sounds like it's meant to be funny.
Bugger off.

The thing about Jimmy Page is, he may not have had the best technique, but he was the absolute soul of rock'n'roll. He may well have made his own deal with the devil (and judging by his interest in the occult, he probably did), but he brought back something thrilling and awe-inspiring. You've only got to listen to the opening riff of track 1, side 1 of Led Zeppelin, to know you're in the presence of greatness. And really, has there ever been a better solo than that on Stairway To Heaven? Equalled, maybe, but beaten, no. That solo is from the gods (or the devil).

Well put Richard

Zeppelin were never one of my favourite bands but they could rock!

Bonham was a beast of a drummer, Jimmy was blistering in his guitar approach, Plant could strip paint of a bog-door at 20 paces and JPJ kept the whole shebang together

Great live and tidy enough on record.

DD, have I ever told you about The Roundhouse 1968.....?

RAMBLE ON!

I ♥ "Hot Dog", too - despite the unforgivably sloppy guitar playing.

I always figured that was intentional; the record somewhere straddling love and parody.

It's got to be intentional, makes me smile every time I hear it. Redneck Hoedown. Yee-Haw!

Plant’s vocal gives it away too.

On any given day it can be any three between 3 & 7, but usually it's the ones in the middle.

You have to buy in to what they do. I didn't used to. I think they mostly get by on swagger, but what swagger! There's a moment in "Trampled Underfoot," I think, where they just all play at top volume trying to out-do each other and just play giving (pun intended) no quarter. It's glorious. They were the greatest rock band in the world at one point mostly because they just acted like it with such arrogance that it was impossible to deny.

That's perfectly put Dave.

They were the biggest and greatest rock band in the world, everyone knew it and, by christ, they knew it too!

It's an exact copy of a solo Jimmy recorded as a session musician for Neil Christian back in the early 60's (I can't remember the title)

He obviously liked it - lord knows why! :)

He's doing his Elvis bit. He sang "Little Sister" around the same time for a live album too.

IV
Houses if the Holy
Physical Graffiti

IV is objectively the best but Houses is my fave, they really stretch out. And Page is a genius guitarist , as was mentioned listen to Rain Song and tell me he’s sloppy.

Well... seldom. (c.f. "Misty Mountain Hop" - couple of major clams in that one - and the aforementioned "Hot Dog")
