So this is where the album really starts. Gilmour commentating On Pink Floyd’s game, I believe.

I just love his voice. Always have. His songwriting had come on since The Narrow Way.

But yeah, it’s all about the guitar. My favourite player, in fact.

In my life, I have generally never distinguished between the voices of:

Lennon/Harrison

Gabriel/Collins

Waters/Gilmour

Am I strange?

David explains his motive for doing a solo album in 1978 “I don’t think it was a counteract to some sort of frustration I was feeling within Floyd. If anything, I thought it would be nice to have a bunch a guys in a room, play some tunes, knock ’em down and put out record”.

Played this for the first time on Wednesday, enjoyed that opener a tad more this time around. I found it a comfortable listen, suspect that repeated plays might reveal more delights. Familiarity doesn't necessarily breed contempt. As has been mentioned, a gorgeous guitar tone, and I'm another who prefers his vocals to Water's.

I think Waters was pissed off with Gilmour for not saving these songs for Pink Floyd.

My recollection may be wrong, though.

I think it was rather the vogue at the time, wasn't it? In a way, the solo album was yet another justification for punk. Record labels indulging their cash cows...

This one co-written with Eric Stewart, I see.
