I think it was rather the vogue at the time, wasn't it? In a way, the solo album was yet another justification for punk. Record labels indulging their cash cows...


You have to bear in mind that things were going wrong with the bands relationship with each other.

Waters was taking over and I think this was Gilmour’s response.

It just spurred Waters on, though. By The Final Cut, the game was up.

That’s not to say that wasn’t a fine album, though.

If the solo records had been crap, then maybe some justification.

But they were all good in their own way.
