Maart's next task....

Postby C » 26 Aug 2019, 13:18

Only joking Maarts...

BUT, if the lad was willing to run another Cup - what would the focus be....?

I'd go for:

Folk, folk/rock of the 70s

You?

Folk & folk rock would be interesting, but I'd not have any time limitations.

Weird music.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

Folk with no timescale, or weird music are good for me. They're probably the same thing anyway.

The problem with "weird" is understanding the definition. Could turn out just to be prog or novelty cack.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Folk & folk-rock would be a splendid idea.

But how many players do we need to make it work?

You have a very poor grasp of Folk traditions.

Can't do folk, not even folk rock, unless it's all Byrds.
Novelty cack is a bit easier, but may I suggest CHEESE instead? Cheese I do fine.

I could agree to folk, but still have limited time for online stuff, so probably wouldn't do much other than submit a list and intermittently vote.

Someone mentioned Broad Church - so, pretty much anything with acoustic guitars, then? :D

That's what I think too.

Cripes, can't think myself sitting through a whole round, let alone organising that....

Something different....?

Select 10 songs (or however many required) based on quality of vocal performance. Can be from any genre - all from 1 if you like or a full spread.

Yes, people would probably just vote for their preferred song / artist regardless of the quality of the vocals but then that’s what we do anyway.

It would just be a different slant on what we nominate and would result in a different type of critique on selections in the voting process.

The match ups would be interesting - might end up with Captain Beefheart v Adele! (Ok maybe not ;) but you see what I mean....)

This is a great vocal performance but probably not everybody's cup of Darjeeling
