This bit from a customer advance review got me thinking - compression?

amazon.co.uk:

Overall, Abbey Road sounds more substantial via this remix. It has been done right, so its a good thing and no longer do you have to feel embarrassed if younger listeners are in the room, because it sounds good in 2019, today. Which was the aim anyway, so that if it is played in playlists, it won't sound less forthright than anything else. I have no idea about the bonus tracks or the 5.1 mix, as I bought the standalone CD.

There is a spectacukar set of Beatles-related documentaries, live recordings and personal choices on the BBC sounds app (or you can retune your digital radio to find a Radio 2 "pop up" station).

Well, I’m very pleased with the box, although I’m not convinced the remix is a huge improvement over the 2009 remaster.

However, I love the two sessions discs and a sumptuous book, as always.

After the sublime White Album 50th, this one was kind of a bummer. Much like the album proper. So, job well done!

Yeah the most revelatory moment for me was when McCartney told them to take the Leslie off of his piano. And it was a revelation, but a small one.

That said, I DO love the live "Crossroads" that starts album two. Anyone sticking around after?

Are you talking about a terrible Cream record?

No, I'm talking about a great one!

(Though other than "Crossroads" I don't like the live album much.)
