I first got into Caravan early in the century - I had an mp3 collection, and went to see them live a few times. Hence the albums all melding into one. In fact, come to think of it, I have never played a Caravan vinyl album!

Agreed - many are as good but the flashy approach often wins through with the plebs

Dave has a different approach to E & W - less of a classical influence perhaps making the difference. He thinks in a different way, it appeals more to me.

Hawken is a very under rated player, but probably just under E & W.

I love the reflective passages in Caravan - remind me of Pink Floyd a bit...

In fact, one of my favourite discussion topics is why the Floyd made it as megastars and Caravan never had a hit album. Are they that far apart?

I was always wonder why brother James (Hastings) was never a 'proper' member of the group - always 'additonal' or a 'guest'.

His flute work is a thing of beauty
