When Saints Go Machine
When Saints Go Machine - clever, punny name, sort of thing you might be tempted to take a chance on. At first listen, you are struck by inventive beats and lovely falsetto yelping, but the band never fulfills its potential, you are left with melody lines that don't gel into a satisfying whole. It's melancholic nonsense, mechanical melancholy that could have been buoyed by the clever beats, but they take over completely, and the feeble falsetto never really comes to the fore. This is the sort of band that will agree to symphony orchestra backing in a heartbeat.
