Just as a follow-on, does anyone else agree with me about The Man Machine being a slightly lesser album? Or am I the lone voice in the wilderness again. I tend to think of Kraftwerk's career trajectory as a kind of bell-curve, building towards the landmark releases of Radio-Activity and Trans Europe Express, and from there it starts heading downhill again. It's not a bad album, by any means, but it's not one I dig out often, it feels slighter to me. There's something really special about the two which preceded it, a perfect mix of innovation, concept, and pop sensibility. To me, that mix feels more weighted to the pop sensibility, and the concept and innovation feel lesser. Sometimes, I think I even prefer Computer World, where the concept is stronger, and the dry humour comes through more strongly.

*Edit - I guess many would put Autobahn in that top-tier, too, but I find the pop sensibility lagging behind the concept there. It's clever, but I don't love it.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Nope! Don't agree at all.
For me "Die Mensch-Maschine" is pure classic, a masterpiece!
I rate nearly all of them equal (studio albums)
Guess I'm alone to think of Electric Café as a masterpiece in minimalistic techno pop!

It is hard to think of an album including robots, model, neon lights, the title track and the stupendous spacelab as anything other than one of the greatest records ever.

Looks like I've struck a rich seam of agreement.

My fave Kraftwerk albums (in no particular order)

Autobahn
Radio Activity
Trans-Europe Express
Man Machine

[Actually, probably in that order!]

Sorry DF, MM is my favoruite too :)

Computer World is an album I feel I should like more than I do. Electric Cafe/Technopop has grown on me quite a bit but I'll still probably put it low on my list, which is:

1.Man Machine
2.Trans-Europe Express
3.Autobahn
4.Radioactivity
5.Computer World
6.Technopop
7.Tour de France Soundtracks

I don't know the first two Kraftwerk and the Ralf and Florien albums well enough. I wish they'd reissue them

Well, if we're all doing lists:

1. Radio-Activity
2. Trans Europe Express
3. Kraftwerk
4. Computer World
5. The Man Machine
6. Ralf and Florian
7. Autobahn
8. Electric Cafe
9. Kraftwerk 2

I also like The Mix a lot more than most people, and if it counted as a proper album, it'd be somewhere around the half-way mark.

DMM
TEE
TDF
RADIOAKTIVITAT
AUTOBAHN
ELECTRIC CAFE

COMPUTER WORLD

the first three are all quite fun but there's not much to hang your hat on.
I guess if I were including them they'd all come between Autobahn and Electric cafe
Complete Ramones Mp3 set on its way

TEE
A
DMM
TDF
R
TP
C

But they are all close together. Really the best album is Minimum-Maximum.

Make no mistake Man Machine is a fine album and Neon Lights is a very robust track.

However, for me MM is too polished and a little too 'poppy'

I prefer the earlier stuff

More ooofness

Radioactivity has always been my go-to album and it always will be but the earliest albums have been the biggest source of fun for me.

The only one that doesn't do much for me is Tour De France Soundtracks.

Doesn't do a lot for me either, kind of washes over me somewhat. Title track is fabulous of course.

You mean track 12?
That was a huge mistake to add that track/mix! For me it ruin the album, feels like an afterthought and a pressure to add it as never been on an album so far......
Love most of the album though!
Guess the live version of some of the tracks are way better imho

Yes track 12 is what I meant.

I completely agree regarding the live versions being way better
