Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf

Picked up a 1995 Sony "Pop Shop" budget edition of the Barbra Streisand album, uh, "The Album". Actually, I don't think this is an original album, but rather, a comp for the German market. Anyway - I love Barbra Streisand. She can hold a note, carry a tune. She is good with a tender ballad, sentimental pap. She is also the highest paid female concert vocalist in the world. But make no mistake, she is rounded off Broadway, with all that entails... and that means novelty (!), bells and whistles. So, on this album of high-strung balladeering, the producers also hit upon the cockamamie idea of placing two toe-curling novelty songs right in the middle of the candlelight stuff. Guaranteed to kill a romantic setting. I mean, is there anything more "coitus interruptus" than going from "A Taste of Honey" to "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf"? Will I keep this CD? Yes, but only just. Will I reach for the skip button when I play it? Nah, too lazy...

Incidentally, where's the thread on why music is so lousy these days?

Anyway, I got rid of the CD, in the end. Nothing wrong with the wolf song per se, it works in the cartoon, but stuck on a Barbra comp it is out of place.
