I really dig both, but I've always had a special love for "I Dig Everything".

So which do you prefer ?

The Dame of all he surveyed or offspring of Greater Manchester (including a Steve Coogan sibling)

Sorry Samoan I think they're all a bit slow on the uptake. They don't seem to grasp the idea of the thread is to talk about the songs! ;)

I was one who sidetracked the thread so I’ll weigh in.

The Bowie track was surprisingly good; I’d never heard it and am not usually a fan of his early years. I really liked it quite a lot.

The other track was horrible. Whatever it was?

The Bowie track is all right - very much of its time.

The Mock Turtles sound like they're channeling the Stone Roses.

Yes, it's kind of The Stone Roses crossed with The La's, with a more polished production than both.
I think it was seen at the time as ersatz indie, a slight bandwagon jumping type thing. But I've always loved it - It has such an easy going, assured melody and I really like that distorted guitar instrumental break.

I dig TV, I dig remote control. I dig the furry freak brothers and the twilight zone. I dig Marvel and DC, I dig RUN DMC, I dig Renegade Soundwave... but never AC/DC.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

The mock turtles is half arsed Brit pop wannabee shit. It makes me sick. Worse than fucking Jesus Jones or kula Shakur. Fuck off.

The Bowie track is OK.

No comparison. The Bowie cut, a first hearing for me, is a revelation. It's a really great soul song and with a whimsical touch of psychedelica with that echo thing he does. Love it. Thank you.

The Mock Turtles thing sounded great at the time.
I didn’t vote for it, though.
