A BCB musical snapshot - Feb. 2019

Postby fange » 15 Feb 2019, 15:48

Inspired by the collection of songs chosen by BCBers that Trans-Chigley Ray has been posting about recently, why don't we do something like that now.

To every BCBer who is still coming here - please choose a song/tune that somehow captures where you are "at" musical at the moment. Something old, something new, whatever; the important thing is that it is speaking to you or means something to you right now. Maybe later we can make a Spotify playlist or something.

Anyway, start thinking. Let's try get it done by the end of the month.

I've been back on the Ethiopian music HARD this past week or so

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

The 80s cup is going on right now. Which usually sends me scurrying to one of the few bands I like from the period.

I’ll come up with something but “where I’m at” will take some thinking. We’ve been super busy and got a new (to us) car a few weeks ago that means I can listen to the iPod in the car, so I’ve been listening to a lot of very random stuff without any immediate focus. But I’ll come up with something for sure.

Listened to this for the first time in ages, and it's still one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard: Arriving Twice by National Health.

I've got a six week old baby & am snowed under at work, so have been comfort listening this year. This cropped up today which is all the awesome and may have BCB escaped you so that'll do.

Windows 96 - Vision.

A young lad from Sao Paolo making what is called "vaporwave" - haunting electronic material with a huge 80s vibe to it. He's phenomenal - melodies seem to fly out of him with absolute ease.

I'd like that whole Clark album more without the drums, but what a lovely song.

I have just snoozed through the Grammys and quite like one of the winners. Not that I am au courant or anything, but once in a while a song pops up that gets me poppin'.

Kacey Musgraves – Butterflies – WINNER
