Because it's ridiculous. It's Finnish power metal with a male Greek vocalist who reaches absurdly high notes. It's cheesy as hell, even making Nightwish sound like Slayer. BCB will hate it. I think it's utterly wonderful.

I've been thinking of late 80s/early 90s quiet psych. There's a Flaming Lips song in my head I can't place and a few other things (Opal, Spacemen 3, Bedhead) that I contemplated. But I'm happiest with this Galaxie 500 number from On Fire.

Blimey! Our taste has got worse. The original one wasn't very good, but there's no way I'd listen to this.

I’ve been listening to lots of contemporary classic rock bands, maybe best encapsulated by Greta Van Fleet - When The Curtain Falls, but on my iPad i’m failing to see how to find the YouTube reference. You’d all hate it anyway.

But also lots of contemporary European jazz acts so I need 2 picks really.
turn on, tune in, nod off

Velocity Girl - Here Comes.

I like the 'in the doldrums' bassline.

"i'm a little bit worn down....".well, that's before the holiday I had anyway. But my mood these days is more like the glorious end of the song, with the steel guitar reaching for the skies.....

It's not February. New snapshot needed.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

It looks like we've gotten all the songs we're going to get now, so let's wrap it up, time capsule style.

Could a nice mod move this thread to somewhere else more easy to see and access it, maybe Classic Threads?

Cocteau Twins - Musette and Drums

Not enough rock records are coming out, so I spend too much time on reissues, like Head over Heels that came out last year. With the death (to me) of Morrissey, I am looking for a new most favourite band ever. The Cocteau Twins come very close to this, and this is absolutely their finest song.
