Psychobilly - Rockabilly in Stereo!

Postby Jimbo » 08 Feb 2019, 12:09

Doing a Cramps blast here and what a truckload of fun they are. Gotta love them for the song titles alone. "Aloha From Hell," "Voodoo Idol," "Don't Eat Stuff From the Sidewalk, "Garbageman." Also gotta appreciate the elemental-ness of the music. The twangy guitar beats the shit out of any other sound.

So, who are your psychobilly favs?
Question authority.

Revisiting the past isn't normally something I approve of, but The Cramps were bloody good at resurrecting rock n' roll classics, and had a swagger all of their very own.

Outside of The Cramps, I also have a soft spot for The Monsters:

Their singer, Lightning Beat Man, is pretty much a one man cottage industry for Swiss psychobilly:
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I think the Cramps version of "Shortnin' Bread" is the best thing in the history of the world.

I wouldn’t call the Cramps Psychobilly.
