Have we had an Andy White thread before?

Postby Minnie the Minx » 15 Jan 2019, 03:35

When I was about 17 I was having a fling with this bloke from Kettering who thought that Andy White was the DOG'S BOLLOCKS. I listened to him a lot as a result, and I liked it at the time, but I am unsure where all this fits into my life now. What do you think about him?

Actually, do you remember him at all?

I remember him as Andy White and The Ghost Of Electricity - just him and a drum machine - on The Old Grey Whistler Test doing a kind of Blonde On Blonde Dylanesque thing.

A couple of years later there was a period of a few months where it seemed impossible for me to go to a gig without White being the support act. So, yeah, I’ve seen him a few times and I liked him well enough but not enough to buy any of his records. I’d forgotten all about him to be honest.

I listened to his first two albums, ‘Rave On’ and ‘Kiss The Big Stone’ recently. Enjoyed them both again but it had been years since I’d heard them.

I wonder if Ringo has forgiven him? ;)

Saw him as a support act. The longer he went on, the worse he sounded. Quite a relief when he left the stage.

It wouldn't have helped him that the sound was rather dreadful, it was a venue I've long given up going to for rock music - though it's fine for classical. The saving grace of his music may be the lyrics, they were inaudible on this occasion.
