Blue Cheer is the only band I can think of that were shooting for anything this heavy that early. They never got to this level though.

It's like they came out of nowhere and decided to be the heaviest band on the planet.

That was a wow!

Pushed, Not Forgotten coming as a welcome change of pace - or am I speaking too soon - the violence returns, more whiplike, not as dense a sound as before. More modulations.

Edgar Broughton Band came close on their eyeballs out material

EBB recorded Abbey Road in 1969 and this is a corker!

" In August 1969 High Tide was the headliner for a series of concerts at All Saints Hall in Ladbroke Grove to promote their agency. On the final concert they were supported by a new band named Group X, who were impressed by High Tide’s brand new state of the art gear. They asked if they could play on it and they did. It was the first ever appearance of Hawkwind…"

Wonder if Paganini would have been in this kind of band had he been a violin wunderkid in the late 60s.

I'd assume that House had some classical training on the violin - unless you've been brought up in a folk tradition it must be hard for western violinists to avoid it. Certainly adds to the mix.
