What's the dumbest "rock" song you've ever heard?

Is it this?:

If you've got nothing to do, don't do it here.

That may very well be worse than “Takin Care if Business” or “We’re An American Band.” Goodness me.

Grand Funk Railroad doing (Do The) Locomotion. Sounded like someone kept the tape rolling during a rehearsal and they played it for a goof. And it went to number one! Japanese love it. My high school kids all know it. Now I don't give a shit but I used to think God help us if that is the one American song they all dig.

Hey y'all - don't you think it's time we learned to do a little boogie woogie down?

We're here with tens of thousands of people and you are on stage, I think you should have learned to boogie woogie down well before you were booked for this show! Do we need to stop the show whole you listen to some records and figure out how it's done?

That's actually in battle with this one:

Yeah they call me yeah hot n nasty
Yeah they call me uh Mister Fancy
Yeah when you ball me
Yeah you're hot n nasty
Oh when you ball me
You're Miss Fancy
Right

I do like Black Oak but they have the stoopidest lyrics of anybody. But in a good way.

I've probably mentioned this before but a college buddy of mine was raised on the Black Oak compound/commune/encampment (?). His baby pictures are in one of their records. He turned out...ok. Took a while, but..

EDIT wooo, boy, you google "Black Oak" and "compound" and you sure get a hell of a read:

Fuelled by starch and nubile farm girls, the band began to hone their craft, a sort of southern-tinged cosmic boogie laced with a healthy lust-for-life and, well, just plain lust.

“Let’s Get Rocked” by Def Leppard. I like their previous records but this was a real shark-jumping moment.

BTO have some pretty awesomely stoopid lyrics too. But I like the title of this one at least. It was inspired by the Yes album Fragile. Randy saw that and decided that a rock and roll band should NOT be fragile. It should be the opposite of fragile.

But this is giving short shrift to their music.

I brought this home, age 10, and put it on when my dad and his friend were sitting around. When the guitars come in (at around 0:12) they both burst out laughing. I was embarrassed because deep down I knew they were right.

The moment that has that effect on me is the chorus of "Sledgehammer".

Still love the album.

I would probably nominate something like Eloy's "Something Yellow" or Dream Theater's "The Great Debate", because of how they tackle Important Issues in the earnest, most literal-minded and yet incompetent and tone-deaf manners possible. ELP's "Tarkus" may have a daft premise to it but at least they seem half-aware of the kitsch factor to it all.

Probably this:

Anyone who has ventured past the Scott Walker tracks that are wisely front-loaded onto The Walker Brothers' swansong Nite Flights will have run into the execrable Rhythms of Vision. A set of wretched 'will these do?' lyrics, penned by John Walker (presumably channeling the spirit of an adolescent David St Hubbins) are harnessed to the kind of turgid, mid tempo-groove that would be meat and potatoes for Oasis a couple of decades later. Every time I hear this song I remain staggered by how dreadful it is.

She knows the heart well
She's making it twitch
Just waiting to open
Her sacred stitch

On the night of the moon
The rites of the witch
Odyssey's near
You've lost to the bitch

Rhythms of vision
Tear at your mind
The evil you feel
Feels so more than kind

Well, dumbest does not necessarily mean worst. I mean, "Louie Louie" is pretty dumb, but it's also a fantastic frat rock anthem. If I were to point out something really dumb as in moronic and insulting, it would be Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus", which is my pet hate. I also think it's the worst in every respect .

"Hot Blooded" by Foreigner, maybe.

I love it dearly, as I do that April Wine song.
