Wrecking Crew bassist, "man who discovered Carpenters", etc.
He got around - his playing on "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" is probably my favorite thing that he did, but his lightness of touch, and sort of smooth, nimble, gliding, delicate style is all over records by the Association, Simon and Garfunkel (notably "Bridge..."), Grass Roots (the introduction to "Midnight Confessions" is him), Johnny Rivers, Mamas and Papas, Monkees, Neil Diamond, Glen Campbell, First National Band, Ricky Nelson, Partridge Family, Neil Young, etc. - his Discogs entry is EXTREMELY "Oh, he played on that too?"

Pantheon position secured.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

A friend of mine interviewed him a few years back and brought up 2:45. Joe laughed like a drain.
