Louis Jordan stopped singing "Eschew Is Or Eschew Ain't My Baby" live at least 40 years ago.

Oh really? I remember seeing some interview with him where he said he'd dropped it from his set. I stand corrected!

It was his final tour, not quite a farewell, but he hadn't toured for a while before it.
I count myself very lucky to have seen him before he died.
In the pantheon of great British guitarists, he is often unfairly forgotton.

I'm far from a fan of his solo career - but there were parts of that night that were utterly stunning. He is an amazing guitarist live.

The things I remember were :
a) He used one guitar (a white Strat) throughout the whole three hours - for a wildly eclectic set
b) Roger Waters played a mini set with him (based on 'The Wall' I think, Andy?) and
c) The White Stripes did a 20-30 mini set with Jeff, where they only covered old Yardbirds songs.

Bizarre set but brilliant at its best. And he did play HHSL, but it was clearly as a sop to some of his fanbase (but seemed to enjoy it, nonetheless).

EDIT Charlie pointed out to me (by pm) that this is the right answer to the wrong quote... I thought we were still discussing MacAndy & I attending a Jeff Beck gig, when it seems the conversation had moved onto Davey Graham!

My apologies and thanks to Charlie for not embarrassing me publicly :)

Be great if you could explain how and where I've somehow fallen down.

FWIW, the top definition from Google

You may have used it correctly (but I doubt it) but it sounds terrible. Bit like asking 'when did you last attend a concert?'

although you probably say that too

Maybe no longer her best known song but Madonna hated Like a Virgin and don't think she's performed it since the 80s.

You seem to be the only person who has a problem with the usage and the only grounds you can offer for doing so are purely subjective.

Going to draw a line under this now as I must a concert attend.

However, my comment only slightly less applicable to him too.
Much less commercial than his obvious peers, but still a magnificent guitar player.

Quite true. 42 years now.

And...

...if he had a bigger song in his post Beatles career, I don't know that I could name it.

Could that be something to do with playing that bassline and singing at the same time? I know he does move over to guitar live - but I remember him clearly saying some songs were so difficult to sing live and play his basslines too.
