A really full sound, then the drop out to feature the very Milesian horn of Carr.

Indeed - didn't ten musicians from Nucleus go onto the Softs?

Some of Spedding's best work is on this album. Superb timing and range of sound.

The interplay is fantastic - I wonder how much is a live recording, what when on with overdubs.

Another master.

I'd have been happy with another ten minutes or so of development of Song for the Bearded Lady.

I just adore Jenkins' oboe - that is what makes (in particular) Soft's Six and Seven so strong

Incredible

That funky guiatr riffing adds a lovely extra dimension to the reed

Loving John Marshall even more on this song, he's really holding them all together - so often the drummer is the most important member of the band.

Indeed.

Again, it's all about the combination, the interplay. Oh to have been blessed with the ears & dedication of these players.

The pathos of the tune, the meter, the tones is touching.
