The Making (and Unmaking) of Paul’s Boutique
The Beastie Boys made a masterpiece. And then they were foiled

Not my favorite Beastie Boys' album. Rock fans tend to love it for some reason.
Johnny Ryall is good, Shake Your Rump, Hey Ladies, Looking Down the Barrel of gun are okay too. Not their best.

It's not his best.

Wasn't Miles Davis a fan?
It's a fantastic record, full of imagination and humour. Just the sheer overwhelming variety of the samples means it's hard to get tired of it. Along with a handful of other hip hop records it represents some kind of peak that due to obvious legal reasons it's impossible to recreate

It was a good read. I should play this record again. Now that the frat-rap memories are decades old I bet it'll sound different.
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

I wonder if it's possible to hear those demos that they recorded with the Dust Brothers.

I agree with one of the Beastie's friends when asked. It's only got a couple good songs.

Yeah I would be interested to hear the demos. But I love that album. Maybe it's not what they visualized but it was powerful and a lot of fun.
