God that 'Vertigo' song is dreadful. A real lumbering, ponderous thing.
I'm a bit bored of TK these days, but it wipes the floor here.

'Vertigo' is one of the best things U2 have ever done, one of a handful of occasions where they get it just right. It's spirited and light and the production is great, leaving lots of space. That bit near the end where the song lifts off? You don't get that with The Allman Brothers.

'Teenage Kicks' is just dull, always has been.

I'm quoting the whole post in case you go messing with it, J. :)

U2 of the ROI gets my vote.
Nonsense to the aggressiveness, I've seen more aggression on the my little pony message board......I mean I was told.

Dull, consensus views always prevail, I suppose.

My only regret is that the entire quote wouldn't fit in my sig.

I like both, but ultimately it's Teenage Kicks. Everything fits.

With U2, it's a very heavy riff and driving rhythm, but Bono's voice undercuts the power vs. counter balancing it. In my opinion.

If you're going to go all in, go all in. Another type of singer would have worked better for Vertigo. Someone like Dio.

This is way, way past U2's sell by date. Rancid stuff.

Hello hello, that’s the good bit. TK is the ultimate
in pop music, it just doesn’t get much better than that.

Lol.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

TK is pretty fucking tedious. All that shit about it being Peel’s favourite just makes it more insufferable.

V is pretty good. I dont like much latter-day U2, but V is ok- I don’t groan when I hear it, whereas I never ever need to hear TK again.
Heyyyy!
