Not at all, no!

I bought the special edition earlier this year and it's mostly rubbish - almost as bad as The Damned.

It's certainly not good enough to hold its own with the other albums in Yomp's list.

I, too, prefer the follow-up.

The pistols were shit. I don't like heavy metal.

The Clash sold out. All the joy of that first album followed by fuzz guitars and heavy rock riffing. A disgrace.

And I don't really give the Americans a pass, but there was some great things happening in New York in 1975/6/7. A lot of which gets very little respect.

It's brilliant.

What I love about it - and I know I've said this before - is how aggressively weird and playful the keyboards are. Considering everyone else was either being artsy or cold and robotic with them - and the latter would get much, much worse soon thereafter - the fact that they treated the synth as basically as punky an instrument as slashy guitars is, imo, some kind of accomplishment. Plus Thomas's voice - despite having the standard resolute unmelodicness - was not really like anyone else's. They really were a one-of-a-kind band.

What can I say? I heard the second album before the first and it holds a special place for me.

Was reluctant to vote 'Amazeballs' due to the stupidity of the phrase, but nevertheless...

He's one of my favourite vocalists. Wyatt's another (I think you feel the same way).

I'd hate to sound calculatedly idiosyncratic but I really do prefer those kinds of singers to the likes of Otis, Aretha, Smokey et al.
