Ha ha, I don't like to pay full price for "Hansi", but I might have to with that one. ;)

Just discovered another pile from last week, but that'll have to go on the next rundown end of week.

I went to Copenhagen yesterday, my monthly trip to trade comics and CD + DVD. Please note, my Accord score is markedly different from any thrift shop score, much more choice purchases, five star soul, that sort of thing. And instead of 20p to 50p, I pay anywhere from £4 to £10 (100 DKK) per CD. You get what yer pays for...

Accord:

The Very Best of the Commodores (Motown)
Rapberries Classic Album Set (box set of four vinyl replica mini sleeves, Caroline/Capitol)
Al Green - Livin' for You (The Right Stuff/Hi)
Al Green - Let's Stay Together (The Right Stuff/Hi)
Al Green - Call Me (The Right Stuff/Hi)
My Girl: The Very Best of the Temptations (2CD gatefold digipak, Motown)
The Very Best of the Meters (Rhino)
Aretha Franklin - The Atlantic Singles Collection (2CD slimline, Atlantic/Rhino/Stateside)
Isaac Hayes - Greatest Hit Singles (Stax/Fantasy)
Bootsy's New Rubber Band - Blasters of the Universe (2CD fatboy, Ryko)

:D Well, some weeks are bigger than others, but yes, it's madness. When they only cost 50 pence, it's hard to resist... I use cupboards, closets, top of book cases, will even store some under my bed in time. Every nook and cranny, so to speak.

Nine days have passed, and they are piling up again. Okay, here we go:

beniamino gigli - the radio years
mary chapin carpenter - a place in the world
jacques brel - ballades et mots d'amour (slimline double, universal)
mahalia jackson - portrait (blue classic line)
charlie parker - ken burns jazz
luther vandross - forever, for always, for love
tommy james & the shondells - the essentials (rhino)
kylie minogue - enjoy yourself
caroline henderson - naos
luther vandross - any love
mariah carey - daydream
diana krall - a night in paris
george benson - 20/20
james ingram - always you
flower power generation (masters of music)
naughty by nature - nature's finest
sunday morning (2 CD gatefold digipak)
evergreen - best of love shop
thug life volume 1
shakira - sale el sol
nana mouskouri . master série vol.1
dolly parton - greatest hits (camden)
ac/dc - who made who
dvorak - symphonies nos. 7 & 8 (cbs)
coleman hawkins - the jazz masters
the best of andrea bocelli - vivere
andrea bocelli - incanto
taube i våra hjärtan
vangelis - portraits
dionne warwick - the love song collection (pickwick)
daryl hall & john oates - the essential collection (rca)
inner city - paradise remixed
vangelis - reprise 1990-1999
percy sledge - when a man loves a woman (a-play)
michael jackson & jackson 5 - 50: the motown years (3 CD gatefold sleeve)
john barry - moviola II: action and adventure
eva cassidy - songbird
gipsy kings - the very best of
nalle - bare mig
sys bjerre - sys
chris brown - exclusive the forever edition
taylor dayne - tell it to my heart
eric gadd - rise up!

So there we have it, another nine days of scores, plenty there to hate. Me, I like it all. I stand by my purchases. I don't need my music to have the cool cache. The Jackson triple is especially sweet, with 3 CDs they have done a bit of crate digging. Also, the Dionne set from Pickwick contains only a few of the Bacharach standards that have been compiled so many times. Pickwick in the late 80s did a lot of interesting packages, always digitally remastered. Thug Life vol.1 is Tupac material, primarily.

To dispel any such thoughts, we have had conversations here in real time.

Accord:

Went for the choicest items, as always:

Image

Yeah, Californian hard rock, led by Ronnie Montrose, ex-Edgar Winter Group! And Sammy Hagar! Own one album by them on CD, but had forgotten how hard they rock. Really thunderous stuff, with a supercharged drive. This Best of is on Warner Archives.
cliff richard - cliff sings (emi digipak, mono and stereo)
cliff richard - listen to cliff! (emi digipak, mono and streo)
cliff richard and the shadows - me and my shadows - (emi digipak, mono and stereo)
clif richard - 21 today (emi digipak ,mono)

Those cliffs are really tasty - both mixes and original art, liner notes, lovely digipaks

gene pitney - george jones & gene pitney/it's country time again! (sequel twofer)
bobby womack - the poet II (digipak)
elvis presley for the asking "the lost album"
roy orbison - live from birmingham
the beatles - let it be (stereo remaster)

the gene pitney twofers from sequel are highly sought-after, but note they had the country-themed twofer only.

2nd trip to Accord this month - oh, my poor wallet!

Accord:

The Flying Burrito Brothers - Airborne/Flying Again (twofer, Floating World)
Mavis Staples - One True Vine (gospel)
Dave Edmunds - Rockpile (w. bonus, Repertoire)
Charles Bradley - Black Velvet
Byrds - Byrds (1973 reunion, Elektra)
Flying Burrito Brothers - Out of the Blue (slimline double, A&M)
Bee Gees - To Whom It May Concern (1972 album, scarce on CD)

That Burrito twofer is really good, considering it is a pairing of later albums. The Dave Edmunds album, I am confused because there was also Rockpile the band, but I am too lazy to read the liner notes! The Charles Bradley is an instant classic, some of the best modern era soul of all.
