How long can you last through this song?

Postby fange » 16 Sep 2018, 10:52

Danish group Laid Back's stunning '83 cut, 'White Horse'.

How long can you happily listen to it? How many minutes? Maybe seconds?

How do you feel?

Describe the song in 5 words or less.

It is the B-side to their hit Sunshine Reggae. I remember that I got that single from someone and playing the B-side more often.
Nice staccato electro- heard if often in mash-ups, most notably with When Doves Cry.

The song itself sounds very familiar, but not this band/version. Hmmmmm

I lasted 2:58. Would've gone all the way but it didn't seem like it was gonna change up at all.

This kind of thing is most definitely written into my DNA, simplistic analogue synth from the early 80s is more essential than food and water to me. You'd have thought it was at least a couple of years earlier than 83 though, it sounds right in line with The Human League's dry early material, and the extraneous occasional whooshes are definitely the kind of thing introduced by someone who's played a synth for the very first time. Not bad, but not up there with the best.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

They were Danish?!

I love this track.
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

I used to go clubbing and dancing a lot at warehouse parties in San Francisco when this was popular. Always loved it.

Back when stuff like this was popular.

More fun without the vocals

My gf/aerobic instructor used it in her class all the time back in the day so I heard it a lot. I don't go to aerobics anymore so I don't need to hear it again. Fyi I lasted about five seconds just to confirm it was the White Horse I knew.

I'd forgotten this. Liked the repetition and made it to the end, but I agree the vocals could have been better. Fun, all the same!
