I'm into it.
Nice that they finally put the right cover on it, after only fifty years!

I agree. Not sure about the typeface though.

It's *this* close to being the one they used on the US version. I can see the logic of using that, rather than something else entirely, but in that case, make it the same one!!

That is kinda weird, now that you mention it.

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

The cover may well be authentic and original, but it's pretty lame

Yea it's a throwaway shot. It could have been amazing if staged better.

Looks like cover art you'd see on a dodgy bootleg.

I’d bet good money that I’ve seen that pic on dodgy bootlegs.

I like it, though. I’d like it better with the copy on a sticker but I’ll take what I can get.

I love it. Gives me a great multi-racial Curtis Mayfield/early-'70s vibe. Basically, how the world should have turned out.
There are a few others out there from the same session. I don't think it's clear that the one they're using was the one Jimi wanted, merely one of the shots from the session. Here's another...
There's a smiling one (which I can't find) which I like the best, I think.

I get what you say about the vibe of it - but that isn't the vibe of the album.
The vibe of the album is much more like the nasty nudey ladies cover

I never thought so (and neither did Hendrix, of course).
The American cover wasn't too far off in that respect.

Re: Electric Ladyland 3CD/DVD reissue
I suspect the truth is that if we had all grown up with the cover that JH wanted, that would be the vibe of the music to us - we would have a hard time accepting anything else.

Re: Electric Ladyland 3CD/DVD reissue
I have to agree. The vibe is closest to the orange and yellow US cover, if any. The nudie one (which is what I grew up with, as I paid extra for import!) was great, original (I thought), but didn't feel right. Maaaaybe the green smoke picture inside ...

Re: Electric Ladyland 3CD/DVD reissue
I think you are missing my point
My point is not that the nudes are right - simply that they convey the feel of Electric Ladyland, which to me is mostly the long blues jam Voodoo Chile and all that side three nonsense, ie heavy, dark, smoky studio full of hairy musos, better than the photo used here.
What that conveys to me is not a bunch of kids cavorting on a statue in Hyde Park.
It conveys Stevie Winwood with stinky fingers. Probably as a result of canoodling with those grubby looking women.
