I think their most famous track doesn't even hint at the strange and powerful music they produced at the end of the 60s.

Which is your favourite album? What are your favourite songs?

I'm only half surprised the OP didn't say something like "They were shit, weren't they?"

Yeah, I know, but he's such a contrarian I figure sometimes he's probably contrary to his own self.

I bought the reissued mono version of the first LP (my favorite of theirs) several years ago. After playing it a couple of times my wife finally and with much exasperation asked what that annoying noise was? Apparently she’s not a fan of the electric jug. I mostly play it when she’s not home these days.

The first album is magic but I have been hooked on Easter Everywhere for some time now too.

A miraculous band. It is ridiculous how great all of their albums are. I got Bull of The Woods last based on the opinion that it's their weakest but it's the one I play the most these days. I still consider their debut their best though.

Easter Everywhere is their best album but love the first two albums.
Reverberation and splash one

Yeah, nifty track, huh? It's from this:

About Bull of the Woods, somebody on Wikipedia wrote:In 2009, the album was released with bonus tracks as part of the "Sign of the 3-Eyed Men" box set. The set also included a reconstruction of the "lost" third album, A Love That's Sound, which consisted of mostly previously unreleased tracks, and early versions of songs later included on Bull of the Woods.

Huh, then I guess I do have it then. I don't recall that track on the box set.

I'll be honest I've never really got the acclaim for this band, so I'll be interested what people pick.

They're pretty good, but probably don't live up to the ecstatic acclaim accorded them in so many rock snob circles. I'm gonna say maybe 12-15 good/great cuts (mostly on their first two albums. I've never liked Bull of the Woods; it's not even recorded that well). The jug is irritating, but some like a bit of irritation in their music, so there's that. When all is said and done, I probably like the Seeds better.

The band's history is fascinating though, and I highly recommend the book Eye Mind: The Saga of Roky Erickson and the 13th Floor Elevators. It would make a great movie. I mean these guys were true believers in the culture of acid. They would play high all the time - even the Dead didn't do that... Lol
