Pick your five favorite tracks from this assortment of singles by UK bands and the Bee Gees that I assume were hits somewhere in the world.

"Fire" is easily the best thing here. One of those once-in-a-lifetime perfect time and place for an eccentric talent situations.

Also voted for Cream, Thunderclap, Nirvana, and "Atlantis." All utterly charming and/or inspired, and roughly tied for a very distant second.

Some of these may be overplayed, but I can’t deny how much I like them:

Fire - The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown
White Room - Cream
Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress) - The Hollies
Hush - Deep Purple
With A Little Help From My Friends - Joe Cocker
90s Cup Champion, The Prog Cup 2019 Champion

This is a runner-up for me, though it USED to be way overplayed when the oldies station here still played anything before 1975 or so...

I love that Ivan Julian (of Dick Hell's Voidoids) was the guitarist in a touring version of this band as a teenager.

I went with Cream, Deep Purple, Thunderclap Newman, Joe Cocker and Argent. That debut Argent is surprisingly good.

Just me for "Smile a Little Smile?"

I love this series (though this may be my least favorite disc).

I picked:

Words - Bee Gees
Something In The Air - Thunderclap Newman
Refelections of My Life - Marmalade (what a track!)
Lalena - Donovan
Smile a Little Smile - The Flying Machine
“Remember I have said good things about benevolent despots before.” - Jimbo

Cream Eric Thunderclap Nirvana and Lalena, although only the last two I'd actually agree to listen to again. Fire is all played out for me, Zabadak and the Foundations were all right at the time, I suppose, and the rest is vile swill or stuff I avoided back then

Fire was pretty good for a novelty song, and Build Me up Buttercup is sometimes a welcome staple at weddings, depending on how poor the DJ is. But that's just about all the positivity I can provide for this list.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

No love for The Herd, lol.

Yeah, immense track. I voted for that one, "Atlantis," "Hush," "Something in the Air" and "Buttercup."
