One can hardly blame the OG for returning to the scene of the crime.
Repeatedly.

Re: Shit or hit: A Fifth of Beethoven
All that aside, I'm stunned by how amazing "A Fifth.." sounds 42 years after the fact.
If anyone had ever tried to tell me even when I was 6 (and at virtually any point between then and now) that I'd be claiming it as a timeless, evergreen, classic masterpiece (and I am), I'd have been galled.
I spun it at a wedding last night. No real reason...just scrolled to it and thought "That seems about right". It sounded fucking incredible, not a second too long, really crisp and dynamic (the band is ON), and...the younger people who were dancing to it certainly didn't have any nostalgia for the disco era - I think they were taking it at face value, just as a powerful track.
So many things are simultaneously going very right during those four minutes.
Davey nails it 100% - "Shouldn't work. Does."
A lot of things that move me (to whatever extent) fall squarely into that category. Regarding intent, origins, probability, etc....it's like the Monkees or something - how is it even possible that those four guys have some large number of classic tracks to their name?

An abomination. Ludwig wouldn't have liked it.
And it makes me think of SNF.

Geez, lighten up, LR.
If you're trying to say ALL disco is shit then you're way off the mark; i recommend a little more Chic, Trammps, Sister Sledge and Van McCoy and a little less Big Big Train and Spock's Beard.

Fuck me, how is this 50/50? To think I get abuse for my taste on here. Of course not all disco is shit, that's a stupid point of view. But this - this is shit.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I know it’s unusual for me but I was just throwing in a bit of BCB style hyperbole for “entertainment”.

I don't love it and I don't hate it. I'd rather hear Beethoven without disco beats, though on some level I think it is done well and I applaud the creators for the idea.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?
