It's one of the things that Amazon echo plays constantly if you ask for post punk. And it really outlives it's welcome quickly.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

'Post punk' is such a grab-bag of a term, sure, but i struggle to think of a better category for early TT (if a category is really needed).

A marginal "Yea"...It's a nice song and hearing it every once in a while is cool, but I imagine it becoming taxing if overplayed...It's use worked in the incredibly choppy 'Empire Records' (1995)

I dig it and Uncertain Smile.

Matt Johnson later revealed himself as a rather outsized cock; terrific delusions of artistic importance.

At the time he disappeared drunkenly up his own date, music shows on the telly here all lapped his tuneless apocalyptic endtimes shit right up.
Goodness gracious me.

Yeah, I really like it as well. Before all the hectoring and self appointment as our nation’s righteous moral guardian, he really has a way with an insidiously nagging tune. In fairness, there’s stuff to enjoy on all 4 peak time LPs but this one is the peak.

It's still like something any of us could throw together in an hour or two.

You think? Could just as easily aim that barb at any number of the genre stuff that gets lauded on here. This Is The Day’s a cut above most.

It's nice what you can achieve once you put your mind to it....

Yeah, Uncertain Smile and this are the go-tunes for me too.

It's wonderful -another illustration of how the early 80s achieved a kind of perfect pop. It's a song which has a real life-affirming euphoria to it.
