reap was right. for 81, this really stands out. it is rich, on its own terms. these sounds do rule.

In my memory Like Leila Khalid Said is much softer and less rhythmical than in reality, consequently it always surprises.

It must be said David Balfe's keyboards add so much

Julian's bass throughout is very good

Incidentally Cope and Balfe fell out big time.....!!

More of the plaintive, naïve voice Julian uses to such great effect. Understated horns, clear guitar, another magical moment.

what a closing track.

i love this album. obviously, i need to hear it more. it is rich and bouncy and weird and moving.

thank you, jj, for the pick. these listens turn me onto things in a way that lights me up... about an album, an artist, etc.

thank ye, c and reap. as ever.

have a great weekend, one and all.

Well, bless my cotton socks, I loved that. I always find it hard to chose between this and Kilimanjaro as to which is my favourite, tonight it's Wilder.

Kilimanjaro isn't quite as layered as Wilder, slightly rockier in a pop kind of way. I do listen to them through rose tinted eardrums and find it hard to be objective.

Anyroad, fabulous end to a rather tense week.

Many thanks for the great company, sharing music is such a joy. I'm reading Brian Wilson's biography - it's much more open about his mental illness than expected - he has some great observations about how music has helped him find peace and happiness. Very true.
