HoL, Dino Jr, Pixies and the Fall were all fairly easy picks. The first three are all solid, time honoured and approved indie canon picks that still can get the pulse going. Special call out to Big New Prinz which is probably seen as just another late 80s Fall effort but which I particularly dig.

The final pick was much more tough. Canon pick is MBV or SY but in all honesty, I’m a little bored with both, and that’s not just because of mild tinnitus caused by the former years ago. Therefore, discounting the second division Prims and Weddoes, it was a straight choice between the Sugarcubes and Mudhoney. Deus is fine but it’s got too much Einar; Mudhoney are not BCB approved but I still find myself listening to them on occasion- this song sums them up pretty well and was my #5.

Mudhoney were great for a while but I've never investigated beyond Superfuzzbigmuff (the extended edition with all the singles).

There are eight studio albums! but I get the feeling they went a bit Kings of Leon or something...

I dug into the first several efforts in real time, but the magic really seems to be right at the very beginning (Superfuzz...).

If you have the Superfuzz comp and Every good boy deserves fudge, you are pretty much set with Mudhoney

YMMR and Freak Scene are a class above.

Really like the Fall one too though.
