I've been meaning to get some David S Ware for ages, but then he kinda fell off my radar. That does indeed sound pretty good, are there a couple of albums you'd particularly recommend?

I must admit i haven't kept up with his output over the last 10 years or so, but my first introduction to his music was Surrendered which i bought when I was living in Japan and noticed that he had quite a cult following among Japanese jazz lovers, and that one paid off nicely; a fine album that walks the line between melodic and uplifting out jazz really nicely. After that i went backwards to find Flight, Godspelized and Go See The World too, and would heartily recommend those for the same reasons.

Oh yeah, I liked that Helmet at the time. Doubt I'd want to listen to it today, though.

This Jack Dejohnette album is the only jazz album I have for 1992, although Vernon Reid's presence makes it more heavy than some of the grunge albums of the era.

Henry Butler had a good one that year too iirc.

Almost put this in my list. One of the best shows I've seen is L7 open for the Beastie Boys.
Three quarters of the crowd didn't know what to make of them.
The same effect on an audience as when Big Joe Williams and Mikey Dread opened for the Clash.

L7 were great when i saw them, also, around the time that 'Smell the Magic' came out. I recall them playing "Let's Lynch the Landlord" by the Dead Kennedys twice in their set! But I didn't like the record.
