As per spec on BCB, something as ace as the Valentines' 'Money's Too Tight' gets next to no love. Here's the vocal version which D_F may have failed to find, (if he even knew there was one :) ) - featuring legend of the smooth groove Bobby Lyle on board...

Good see hatzy chime in with some common sense and good taste!

New Order's "Temptation" not in the ten best tracks of '82? Fuckwits. The legendary "Planet Rock" at 16? The oft-discussed "Party Fears Two" at 46? Southern Death Cult's Fatman 12" is a classic, too.

There is some damn good music there. Some rubbish too, but a pretty great strike-rate for me.

Darkness_Fish wrote:To be fair, I think the NME did namecheck the Canterbury scene a few times when I used to read it in the early 90s. I'm not convinced anyone writing for it then particularly cared much about music, mind you, I think they tended to care more about appearing to be setting tastes and being all urbane and shit. That's why they liked the Canterbury scene, it was slightly bohemian, but also posh enough not to be tainted with the less elegant prog behemoths.

Who knows but it just seems fishy to me although its good to hear that maybe I'm bonkers. :P

Blame ginger bollocks.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

That's really weird, because I actually listened to the vocal version before posting. My incompetence knows no bounds.

Obviously, neither version does anything for me.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.
