I actually enjoy their version of "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," and "Just My Imagination" isn't embarrassing. The less said about "Harlem Shuffle," the better.

I'll give the schoolboy wisdom this much -- we all know that covers were something the Stones once did well. maybe the Stone who couldn't swim was the reason.

I always liked "Aint Too Proud to Beg" but then this era of the band is very appealing to me. they were more confident than they had any right to be - the material was getting pretty thin. This track sounds like they like the song and I like the track - the corny phase shifting and stuff.

I have it on very good authority that "just my imagination" only half sucks. that sounds about right. I thought "some girls" got a lot more critical boners than it deserved but the band was tight as a monkey's bum even when they seemed to be going through the motions. I really like the wind up towards the end of the track.still, who likes to hear aversion of a song they like that they don't like as well? not me. not often.

the only good I'll say about "Harlem Shuffle" is that it made me reconsider the Bob & Earl track which is killer. The Stones turn killer to MEH as only the Stones can.

Here's where someone brings up their awful version of "My Girl." Yep, the majority of their covers suck for most of their career.

That said, I don't hate "Ain't Too Proud to Beg." It's not great, but it's fine.

Oh yeah. One big barrier to enjoyment of any Stones song post about 1971 is the silly voices Jagger chooses to sing most of them in.

I'm not a huge fan of that one. But there's a lot going on behind the vocal - rhythmically, especially. It seems to spur him on. And the words are important - he's got a lot to get out. So there's less mewling and meowing.

Something like 'Wild Horses', tho' - I can hardly listen.
