Sisters of Mercy - First and Last and Always is the obvious answer for me. The second side is one of the finest slices of vinyl ever pressed, even considering the disappointing production.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.
