Both great, but the theme from Bullitt sounds a bit too much like generic 70s cop show incidental music to me. You know, the sort of thing you get when somebody's edging down the wall of a corridor with their gun in their hand.

The Get Carter theme is rightfully iconic and cool and timeless. I love it to pieces.

What he said.

I was introduced to Get Carter, like many I expect, by Dare. Cool.
The only soundtrack album I ever bought.

I prefer the version of the Get Carter theme without all the train noise on it.

Get Carter easily. Makes your hair stand up on end. Just have to hear the first few seconds and I’m up in that car park.

Sort of relevant, I was friends with Brian Mosley’s son and we used to knock off school at his house and get shedded.

Both excellent, ground-breaking scores. The 'Bullitt' theme is getting a little short shrift here, so i will go for it but genuinely love both.

'Ice Pick Mike' from the Bullitt soundtrack is the fucking bomb. Incredible build and release, and the band sound is out of this world.

Yeah, you try squeezing past him to get to the Wagon Wheels!

Because Bulitt took place in San Francisco, I'm wondering if they wanted kind of a cool jazz beatnik score to go along with the locale.

Clint Eastwood, a noted jazz fan who grew up in Oakland, and a pianist of some talent, always had jazzier scores for his movies.

When you watch Bullitt, it's clear the opening theme is meant to work with the visuals, and they account for some of the breaks in the music and less than "theme-like" quality. I think they should be assessed as one artistic statement:

Get Carter for sure. And this is sublime. If I every got asked to compile one of those "Late Night Tales" cd collections, this would be on it.

Love the movie but never remember where its actually played in the film.
