Does the song have a specific meaning? I've never quite understood it. It seems to be thoughts upon watching a NASA launch on TV, though what Harry, Mark, and John have to do with it, I have never known. Am I missing a specific interpretation?

And the overtones (if that's the right word, T5D?). The chord if F has no open strings whereas the chord of G has 3 and the G string us still open on the A7. I think these kinds of things make a difference.

Sure, there’s a difference between ‘open’ chords and barre chords and different inversions on guitar but it’s a
piano chord in this instance isn’t it?

Transformer is probably his best solo album, but it does suffer from some bad lyrics and a few rote numbers (Wagon Wheel, Hanging Around come to mind).

Satellite of Love is pretty glorious though.

Yes indeed, but you can't really divorce the two, so you can call the combination a collaboration if yiu like - but it is still his best.

The song's good but it's part of why (IMO) people overrate Transformer. It's not as good as Berlin, but it does have the Bowie/Ronson thing and has a great front cover.
