I know I've chosen some and if you, dear reader, are honest with yourself, I'll bet you did too.

that list is full of some tunes I can hear again & again. that list is full of tunes I hope I never hear again. there seems very little consensus on what the real STINK BUGS are.

I totally agree with this. It seems that love of McCartney music is less objective than love of a lot of other artists' music. Whether because of his cultural position, or something inherent in the music, he hits us deeply and we don't really know why we love one song and not another that may be similar. Some people love "Bip Bop". I don't. But I actually don't hate it, as dumb as it is, because I like the sound. I don't much like "Tomorrow" for some reason, the song or the sound, and that's objectively one of the better-written songs on Wild Life. It's easier to find consensus on George Harrison or Mott the Hoople or Bauhaus albums. But McCartney albums are sort of like your first love -- it's not rational and doesn't really conform to a logical pattern ("I like so-and-so because she has blonde hair/looks like my mother/was nice to me"). You love and hate them irrationally, and other people love and hate them irrationally, and no one quite agrees on why.

Paul McCartney looks nothing like my mother.

Your mother, maybe. . .

Instead of picking 10 can we vote one off? Can we all please vote off My Love?
I can just about handle you driving like a pissed up crackhead and treating women like beanbags but I'm gonna say this once and once only Gene, stay out of Camberwick Green!

"You Gave Me the Answer" is a FAR superior song to "Your Mother Should Know." Nowhere near close.

And you dare to criticise.................... oh what's the point! :D

I sometimes prefer Paul in children’s mode and/or music hall mode (both of which he does very well) than to stupid rocker mode.

So yeah...I dare criticize.

I came close to putting we all stand together on my list, but decided it didn't fit the time frame.

I wasn’t disputing that, just suggesting that 4 songs in that style imight be too many. If 2 of the others didn’t exist I might regard it more fondly.

I just YouTubed Mary Had A Little Lamb and actually it’s OK. Ish.

I fucking hate that song.

Then again, I don't like anything on this list, either.

... he's no Matthew Wilder, thats for sure.

I'd pick any of those three 80s turds over anything I've heard on this list. And I'd choose them over the risk of hearing anything else, if Jet is a benchmark.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I hate My Love not just because it's an awful song(which it is) but because it was a big hit, one which lots of casual listeners will have heard and seems to confirm all their worst suspicions of Paul McCartney as the drippy balladeer.

I feel like this song has definitely put people off delving deeper into music they would enjoy.

That said, if My Love was a Suicide style snippet I'd have a lot of time for it.

I'd still like to know why 'Band On The Run' is so popular!

Performance, vibe, sound.

I think that crunchy little guitar motif at the top setting up the band coming in is one of those "Yeah!" things I'm always ready to hear. Paul's trademark out of tune bass (cf. Abbey Road), the major minor tension in that A section with the blend of the three voices (nice arrangement how he sings the first two lines solo before bringing in the "ragged but right" reinforcements), and he only sings that bit once before moving on to that A minor B section with the handclaps , chunky guitar and Moog...which in turn erupts into the relief of the sunny 12 string acoustic (eventually joined by the playful slide guitar). I think the song in its sound and structure very much evokes the narrative of freedom and escape.

Not sure what THE RABBLE are getting out of it, mind - but that's me.

I love the adrenaline rush where the acoustic kicks in before "Well the rain exploded with a mighty crash...".

I'm not nearly as descriptive as JSJ.
In other words an extended look into *******’s head, and it seems to have some pretty good things in it (who among us is totally free of mental garbage?) It’s nice to see that he is confident enough so he can play some blues again,I’d like to hear more.

I'm gobsmacked at how poorly "Back Seat Of My car" is doing!

Not only that, but since Ram is the most popular Paulie album here, you'd think something besides "Uncle Albert" would be dominating.
