My first view of Hillage was a bit like this, but from a lower vantage point & in glorious sun drenched colour. I'm probably just out of shot on the left hand side. Hyde Park '76.

:o amazing I didn't get to see Steve until 2006 although I was front row. I bought almost all his albums and Gong albums for .99 cents in the late 70's.

check this picture out - look at the glasses on the stage you will see(sort of ) a swedish fish on each glass. Hence fish rising :D

A note that Fish Rising is basically a gong personal album without D Allen and plus Dave Stewart on killer organ and Lindsay Cooper on Bassoon.
I love the tone of Hillage's guitar which is why he is one of my favorite guitarist of all time (although you will never see him on a list of top guitarist)

Someone commented on Pierre. Love Pierre very underrated drummer. Plus he played a killer Marimba.

I love how you say gweetar ! :D

trivia: "gweetar" came from a particularly lit night i had in the 70s. i was trying to say "guitar", but i was watching father guido sarducci on SNL at the same time. it came out so very wrong,

one of those things that just gets cemented forever in one's fucqued up brain.

if there is one thing i can do, it's carry on a majorly fucqued up tradition. mwhaha.
